An independent study
Photographed in 2021, the series looks at Porto Leixões Cruise Terminal through its architecture, materials and movement through space. Wider views of the structure give way to quieter observations of surfaces, passages and details.
Approach
Rather than presenting the building only as an architectural landmark, the photographs follow how its forms are experienced at different scales — from the sweep of the exterior to tiled surfaces, changing light and the transitions between interior and exterior.
Created independently rather than as a commission, the project is included here as an example of PortoPhoto’s approach to architecture and built environments: considered coverage of the whole, attention to material and detail, and photographs that retain a sense of atmosphere and place.
SELECTED PHOTOGRAPHS
The edit shifts between broad views of the terminal and quieter details of material, shadow and transition. Rather than documenting every part of the building, the photographs are intended to give a concise sense of how the space unfolds.
